Happy Fourth of July!

Rita Hayworth, firecracker dame

I hope you’ve been having a wonderful Fourth of July! Here at Spellbound HQ, it was restorative to get a day off. I slept in late and then spent quality time with my husband. We even worked out together!

There’s no big parade or fireworks show in Rio Vista where we live, the town saves their fireworks budget for the annual bass derby, but Rio Vista’s municipal code allows “safe and sane” fireworks. As long as the fireworks don’t fly or explode, they are legal. Some abide by the law, and some don’t.

Now that dusk has transitioned to darkness, out come citizens young and old onto the streets of Rio Vista. The sounds of exploding and whistling fireworks echo off of buildings, and the occasional firework lights up the sky. Cheers from adults and childish squeals of happiness drift along the breeze.

Dazzling Rita embodies the feeling of tonight as the goddess of delight and fireworks. Her wholesome sexiness sells the appeal of the firework. Let’s have fun tonight her smile seems to say. Let’s celebrate the country where the pursuit of happiness is written into its Declaration of Independence, where a hard-working woman like herself could become a stratospheric success, flying higher than any gunpowder rocket could.
